How does matching with care companions work?
Through our proprietary matching system, we take into account you/your elder’s personal style and preferences, along with the services and availability you/your elder needs, to match you with care companions who fit your preferences and proximity.
Do you require a background check for care companions?
Yes. SAGE aims to provide safe and reliable services to seniors; therefore, we do require a criminal background check for all caregivers.
What services do SAGE care companions provide?
When building you/your elder’s profile, you can identify the specific services you wish from overall categories SAGE offers. For example, we offer basic companionship, light housekeeping, basic meal preparation, gentle outdoor activities, and transportation.
What services does SAGE not provide?
SAGE does not provide, for example, medical care, bathing/showering support, or medicine administration.
How much flexibility do I have with scheduling a care companion?
You/your elder have complete flexibility with your schedule. You choose your desired windows for care companion visits and SAGE does its best to match you with compatible care companions during the times you wish. We have no minimums; you can book an hour or several days. Keep in mind that unique hours may not have as many available companions.
Can I book the same care companion multiple times?
Absolutely! We encourage our care companions to build a trusting relationship with elders. You/your elder can book multiple visits through the SAGE app.
What if I wish to change care companions?
While SAGE does its best to provide great matches, we understand that preferences and schedules can change. You/Your elder are always welcome to look for other care companion matches through the SAGE app.
Why are service rates different among companions?
Companions set their own rates based on their level of service and expertise. We will provide Companions with general guidance based on market information, but they choose their own rates. However we aim to keep our rates affordable for SAGES and thier families.
What is the cost for companion care through SAGE? What percentage goes to care companions?
At SAGE, we believe that care companions dedicated to providing compassionate care to elders should be rewarded. Therefore, we have one of the lowest service fees for using the SAGE platform among other similar service providers. At SAGE, care companions keep 70% of the service charge.We charge no agency, membership, or subscription fees — just a nominal booking fee of $5 to our SAGES and their families.
Do you require care companions to have a car?
No. Care companions are free to use whatever mode of transportation they wish. However, if you choose transportation services, care companions are required to have their own safe vehicle with all necessary insurance, registration and licensing requirements..

Our booking hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM PST.
